Inauguration Ceremony of IEEE Quetta Subsection & 38th Anniversary Celebration of IEEE Karachi Section

The inauguration ceremony of IEEE Quetta Subsection was organized with great enthusiasm and splendor during the auspicious occasion of the 38th Anniversary of IEEE Karachi Section on 14th July 2020 from 3:00-5:00pm. During the ceremony, video messages by Prof. Toshio Fukuda (IEEE President & CEO), Prof. Akinori Nishihara (IEEE Region 10 Director) and Deepak Mathur (IEEE Region 10 Director-Elect) were played. Several keynote speeches were delivered by Hasan Syed (Founder & CEO of Bir Ventures), Farrukh Attique (Additional Secretary and Chief Minister Delivery Unit, Government of Balochistan), Dr. Bhawani Shankar Chowdhry (Chair for IEEE Karachi Section), Muhammad Bilal (Lecturer at FICT BUITEMS,), Dr. Bakhtiar Kasi (Dean, BUITEMS), and Dr. Shahab Siddiqui (MD Chair for IEEE Karachi Section).  A total of 66 participants attended the event.

IEEE Karachi Section VoLT & SPAA 2020

IEEE Karachi Section Student Activities Committee organized the Volunteer Leadership Training (VoLT) along with Student-Professional Awareness Activities (SPAA) on 25th – 26th July 2020. The main aim of this event was to bring together IEEE members and accelerate their knowledge of the IEEE organization, products, services and resources. Sessions on topics such as ‘Self-discovery and Talent Management’ by Prof. Dr. Bhawani Shankar Chowdhry, ‘Building Effective Relationships’ by Hamza Ihtasham, ‘IEEE Code of Ethics – Leading from Ideation to Innovation’ by Prof. Dr. Tariq Rahim Soomro and ‘What is IEEE and How to Maximize your Experience with IEEE’ by Ms. Fabeha Raheel were arranged on the first day.

SPAA was organized to provide awareness regarding many aspects of professional life related to different professional work environments. Sessions on ‘Visionary Strategies and Empowering Decision-making’ by Adnan Rafique, ‘COVID-19 Opportunities as a Technopreneur – Experiential Learning’ by Engr. Ghulam e Mustafa Abro, and ‘VTools Training and Art of Effective Communication’ by Engr. Parkash Lohana were held on the second day. The session for both days were ended by SSR Muhammad Rafay Shaikh with a closing and thank you notes to all participants and guest speakers. A total of 88 participants attended the events.

Webinar: “Empowering the Fourth Industrial Revolution with Future Internet Communication”

The Webinar, delivered on 13th August 2020 over Google Meet, was organized by Prof. Dr. Syed Hyder Abbas Musavi, Chair for IEEE ComSoc Karachi Chapter, in collaboration with MUET SZAB, Khairpur. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kashif Nisar from IEEE Sabah Subsection, Malaysia was invited as the Guest Speaker to give an overview regarding the fourth industrial revolution with future Internet communication. During the event, Dr. Kashif explained how Information Centric Networking (ICN) is a new paradigm for future Internet network communications and highlighted how ICN architectures can address the challenges associated with increasing demands for highly scalable content distribution, from the growths of mobile devices, to the wide deployment of IoT, as well as for security of global Internet. A total of 80 participants attended the Webinar.
