IEEE Bombay Section Signature Conference (IBSSC-2021)

The 3rd IEEE Bombay Section Signature Conference (IBSSC-2021), was organized by IEEE Bombay Section and ABV-IIITM Gwalior, India from 18th to 20th November 2021. Themed “Frontiers of Technologies: Fuelling Prosperity of the Planet and People”, this flagship conference of IEEE Bombay Section featured a comprehensive high-quality technical program including technical paper presentations, poster sessions, expert talks, and tutorials by eminent speakers from academia and industry. This conference was conducted in hybrid mode (both physical and online). A total of 90 participants participated physically at ABV-IIITM Gwalior and 200 participants participated online. During the Inaugural Ceremony, Dr. B. Satyanarayana (Chair, IEEE Bombay Section) highlighted various initiatives taken by IEEE Bombay Section to outreach and connect the members across the Section geography, and IBSSC-2021 is one such effort.

The three-day event served as a forum for disseminating the most recent advances in healthcare, agriculture, intelligent transportation, and renewable electronics. Participants from 16 countries including China, US, UK, Sri Lanka, Iraq etc. presented their papers. Renowned researchers from various corners of the world shared their domain knowledge on the conference themes during the Keynote Sessions. The keynote speakers were Prof. Arumugam Manthiram (University of Texas at Austin, U.S.A.), Prof. D. P. Agrawal (Founding Director, ABV-IIITM Gwalior), Mr. Asim Bhalerao (Founder and CEO, Fluid Robotics, San Francisco, California, USA), Prof. Anurag Mairal (Adjunct Professor, Stanford School of Medicine, Stanford University, USA) and Prof. Juzer Vasi (Professor, IIT Bombay, India).

During the valediction ceremony, 14 best paper awards were announced in four different tracks. During the ceremony, both physical and online presenters shared their feedback and appreciated this well-organized plethora of technical events despite the pandemic scenario, and expressed their happiness on this great learning opportunity. Organizing Chair of IBSSC-2021, Dr. Somesh Kumar thanked all the members and participants for the grand success of the conference.

IEEE Bombay Section IRC Lecture Series

The Standing Committee on Industry Relations (IRC) of IEEE Bombay Section plan and conduct activities to encourage and strengthen the professional relationship among various industries, research organizations and academic institutes within the geographical domain of IEEE Bombay Section. IRC is also organizing lecture series wherein eminent personalities are invited to deliver lectures on IEEE Bombay Section forum. The most recent lecture in this series was delivered by Dr. Ajay Kumar, Defence Secretary, Government of India on “Make in India Initiative – Challenges, Opportunities and Road Ahead” on 6th November 2021 which was followed by a lecture on “Energy Security for India’s Development in a Carbon Constrained World” by Dr. Anil Kakodkar, Chancellor, Homi Bhabha National Institute, Department of Atomic Energy, Government of India on 27th November 2021. More than 150 people from India and abroad attended these events. The lecture series was well coordinated by Manmath Kumar Badapanda, Scientific Officer-H, RRCAT, Indore and Chair, Standing Committee on Industry Relations (IRC), IEEE Bombay Section.
