Activities Supported by IEEE Region 10 Young Professionals Student-YP Joint Activity Fund – Round 2

IEEE R10 Young Professionals Student-YP Joint Activity Fund was initiated to improve Young Professionals (YP) and students’ collaboration within the Section level. It aims to improve student engagement with YPs and their activities, learn, get inspired, and get motivated to excel in their professional careers through career development events, coaching, and entrepreneurship workshops. Moreover, this initiative aims to provide a platform for students to network with Section-level IEEE Young Professionals volunteers and get motivated to contribute to their Section YP Affinity Group activities after graduation. Five activities were awarded in the second round of the fund for 2021. Below is the summary of these winning activities as reported by the projects’ leads:

“Futura – Paths for a Better Tomorrow” by IEEE Young Professionals Gujarat Section

The activity was conducted virtually on the 8th, 15th, 22nd, and 29th August 2021. The activity was organized in collaboration with IEEE Nirma University Student Branch. A total of over 653 attendees benefitted from the program. The event was designed to work as a guiding system for hundreds of students in getting a certain picture of their career in these times of uncertainty. As a result, all the participating students got insights into getting started in their career of choice. Furthermore, interactive sessions helped gain a deep understanding and knowledge of the interest domains and pushed them to learn and focus more on their interests.

“Envisioning a Great and Successful Career with IEEE” by IEEE Young Professionals Uttar Pradesh Section

The program consisted of several sessions held on 13th & 23rd August; 15th, 17th, 18th, 19th, 22nd, 25th, 26th & 30th September and 1st, 3rd, & 5th October 2021. A total of 646 participants attended the event. The activity was organized in collaboration with IEEE UP Section, IEEE Amity University Uttar Pradesh Lucknow Campus Student Branch, and IEEE BTKIT Student Branch Chapters, Dwarahat. The activities were planned in such a way that they would help young professionals to move and make their careers in the right direction. In addition, the panelist and speakers shared their knowledge and experiences with the audience, which included technical knowledge.

“Workshop on Career Development in Doctoral Course” by IEEE Young Professionals Kansai Section

The activity was conducted virtually on 11th September 2021, with a total attendance of 42 participants. The event was organized in collaboration with IEEE Sendai Section Young Professionals Affinity Group, IEEE Sapporo Section Young Professionals Affinity Group, IEEE Tokyo Section Young Professionals Affinity Group, IEEE Kansai Section Membership Development Committee, IEEE Student Branch at Kyoto University, IEEE Student Branch at Tohoku University, IEEE Student Branch at Ritsumeikan University, IEEE Circuits and Systems Society Kansai Chapter, IEEE Computer Society Kansai Chapter and IEEE Kansai Section Educational Activities Committee. This online workshop aimed to motivate young Japanese students, primarily undergraduate or master courses, to advance toward doctoral courses.

“Coaching on Further Study After Graduation” by IEEE Young Professionals Karachi Section

The activity was held virtually on 29th August 2021, with a total attendance of 80 students. The event was organized in collaboration with IEEE Karachi Section, IEEE HIET Student Branch, IEEE NED Student Branch, IEEE PES NEDUET Student Branch, IEEE MUET SZAB Student Branch, IEEE PAF KIET Student Branch, and IEEE UIT Student Branch. The seminar was carried out to provide information to the students regarding their potentialities, and gain experiences that will help them in making decision on the best educational programs that will suit them and the required educational requirements for the various jobs.

The activity was held virtually on 3rd October 2021, with a total attendance of 46 participants. This event aimed to explore and explain the opportunities available after graduation and the benefits of being an IEEE member, which will help graduates shape their future with various technical and professional activities.
