Third IEEE Milestone in Kolkata

Calcutta Electric Supply Corporation (CESC) received the third IEEE Milestone in Kolkata under the aegis of IEEE Kolkata Section. This is the only Section in India having three milestones, where India has five milestones altogether. A bronze plaque weighing 8.5kg given by IEEE (USA) was installed at CESC House on 18th December 2021. The event was blessed by the gracious presence of Mr. Deepak Mathur, Director for IEEE Region 10 along with Mr. Rabi Chowdhury, MD (Gen.), Mr. Debasish U Banerjee, MD (Dist.) and Mr. Gautam Ray ED (HR&A), CESC Limited. A Gala event was also organized on the same date in Hotel Lalit Great Eastern, Kolkata commemorating this occasion.

18th IEEE India Council International Conference (INDICON 2021)

IEEE Kolkata Section organized the 18th IEEE India Council International Conference (INDICON 2021) from 19th to 21st December 2021 at IIT Guwahati. The inaugural session was blessed by the gracious presence of eminent personalities such as Mr. Deepak Mathur, Prof. Saifur Rahman [online mode], Dr. Suresh K. Nair, Prof. T.G. Sitharam, along with other conference chairs. As part of the INDICON inaugural ceremony, some major award announcements were made (Shri P.P. Chhabria Awards, POWERGRID and IEEE India Council Excellence Awards, and IEEE India Council LTA Awards). INDICON had two sponsors: ERICSSON (Gold Sponsor) and CESC Ltd. (Silver Sponsor). The focus of INDICON 2021 was for the students and young professionals from academia and industry to engage themselves in good research and engineering for the benefit of society. The theme of the conference was “Leveraging Technology for a Self-Reliant and Sustainable Society”.

INDICON 2021 had a total of 948 participants [online-848 and offline-100]. Authors were invited to submit their papers in 12 different tracks. Participants could present papers and watch lectures through six different virtual halls, provided by the INDICON virtual platform. The first day of the conference witnessed two keynote lectures and one plenary lecture. On the same day itself, four parallel tutorial sessions were conducted. The second day of INDICON commenced with a keynote speech. An invited talk too took place on the same day. As part of the WIE track, one panel discussion and one plenary invited talk were held. On the last day, one keynote lecture, two invited talks and two sponsored talks took place. Altogether, INDICON had four keynote lectures, four tutorial sessions, one plenary lecture, three invited talks, two panel discussions, two sponsored talks and one WIE plenary invited talk. The final day of INDICON concluded with a Valedictory Function, along with the announcement of best paper awards (track wise) and the M. V Chauhan award.
