“Collaborating for a brighter tomorrow: IEEE’s diverse community powerfully advances sustainable development and humanitarian technology!”

The IEEE R10 Humanitarian Technology Activities (HTA) Committee, under the leadership of Chair Emi Yano, is making significant strides in promoting humanitarian technology initiatives. With a dedicated team comprising 13 members, including Vice Chair Saurabh Soni and Advisor Jing Dong, the committee is spearheading efforts to engage IEEE members in projects that have a meaningful impact on the world.

Our objectives are:

  • To encourage IEEE members, students, young engineers, and WIE members to work in the humanitarian technology areas, especially at the regional level.
  • To encourage Sections in R10 to support and contribute to the humanitarian technology areas.
  • To create awareness and increase the visibility of R10 HTA among the IEEE local volunteers regarding the significant use of technology for humanity through sessions (online/in-person) by very experienced SIGHT volunteers/international humanitarian organizations.

For the year 2024, the HTA Committee has outlined an agenda that includes four main projects: the Engagement Project, the R10 HTA Visibility Enhancement, the Supporting Fund, and the R10 HTA Award. These initiatives are strategically designed to increase participation, enhance the visibility of R10 HTA activities, provide the necessary financial support for impactful projects, and recognize exceptional contributions in the field of humanitarian technology.

Through our projects and collaborative efforts, we are making a tangible difference in people’s lives and paving the way for a more sustainable future.
