2022 IEEE LMAG Delhi Section 5th Anniversary Celebrations

IEEE Life Members Affinity Group Delhi celebrated its 5th Anniversary on Wednesday, 14th September 2022. The event was organized at India International Center, Lodhi Road, New Delhi. R10 Director, Mr. Deepak Mathur, was the Chief Guest. The function was jointly organized with the Delhi Section.  30 IEEE members attended this event.  

Dr. Harbans Lal Bajaj, LMAG Chair, welcomed the participants. Dr. Bajaj thanked Mr. Deepak Mathur for gracing the event. He stated that LMAG is a unique group in IEEE and a win-win situation for Life Members to know each other. He also thanked Prof. Rachana Garg, Section Chairperson, for her and her team’s presence and supporting event organization. 

Prof.  Rachana Garg, Section Chairperson welcomed and thanked Mr. Deepak Mathur for his gracious presence and all the dignitaries and members present. She briefly touched upon Section activities held so far. Mr. Vijay Gupta, Secretary LMAG, introduced Mr. S. K. Soonee, Fellow IEEE, who delivered a talk on “One Sun, One World, One Grid”. Mr. Soonee is a former founder and CEO of POSOCO, Power System Operation Corporation India, freelance advisor, consultant World Bank, Independent Director, Passionate Power System Operator, and power market specialist. It was a unique presentation with a pre-recorded audio presentation in sync with the content of the slides.

Dr. Harbans Lal Bajaj then talked about LMAG Delhi Award. He mentioned that LMAG Delhi Outstanding LM volunteer award was launched in 2020, where the first winner was Dr. V. R Singh, Vice Chair for LMAG Delhi. The 2021 award winner is Mr. Rajendra K. Asthana, R10 LMC Chair and Member MGA-LMC 2022.

Mr. Asthana informed members present that the new MGA Awards will be launched in 2022. One was LMAG Achievement Award, and the second one was IEEE LM Individual Service Award. Both these awards were bagged by Dr. Harbans Lal Bajaj, Chair for LMAG Delhi. Mr. Asthana also talked about the two R10 LM Awards in 2022. The first is the R10 Outstanding LM Volunteer Award which was won by Dr. Harbans Lal Bajaj. The second is the R10 LM Photo Collection contest which was won by Mr. C. Satish from Hyderabad Section.

The distribution of other awards followed this. R10 Director presented the MGA Achievement Award 2021 to Dr. Preeti Bajaj, R10 Membership Activities Chair.  It was followed by awards distribution by Delhi Section to Student Branches with the highest membership growth and other volunteers. Mr. Asthana introduced the Chief Guest, R10 Director Mr. Deepak Mathur, to participants. Mr. Deepak Mathur thanked LMAG and Delhi Section for inviting him during the 5th Anniversary celebrations of IEEE LMAG-Delhi. He congratulated the hosts for organizing this fantastic event. He discussed various ways to uplift less active student branches.  In his address, he also showed how to appreciate and encourage the work of volunteers and about the awards of volunteers.             

    

The last event was solo songs by Mr. Aditya Mandothia, Mr. Kanwar Aditya and Mr. Manas Swarnkar, students of IEEE DTU. The performers were presented with mementos by Mrs. Nirmal Bajaj. Prof. Abdul Q Ansari, Exec. Vice Chairman, Delhi Section, thanked everyone at the event with very special gratitude to Mr. Deepak Mathur. The event ended with a group photo and a networking dinner.
