R10 Educational Activities and Indonesia Society Chapters Meeting

IEEE Region 10 Education Activities (EA) Chair, Dr. Preeti Bajaj and representatives of Indonesian Section Society Chapter Chairs were discussing potential activities that could be funded by IEEE R10 on Saturday, 19th June 2021. The brief meeting began with a short presentation by Dr. Preeti Bajaj, explaining current EA structure, EA 2020 strategy and EA scope of works.

The participants got a glance of IEEE EA exemplary features such as TryEngineering.org which is designed to educate teachers, school counselors, parents and students about the different engineering disciplines and the impact engineers have on society. Furthermore, Dr. Bajaj also introduced Engineering Projects in Community Service (EPICS) which gives students a platform to work with engineering professionals to develop solutions that transform communities across the globe. She also explained accreditation overseen by IEEE as well as IEEE Learning Network, IEEE Learning Library, IEEE Certificates Program, and IEEE English. Lastly, Dr. Bajaj encouraged Indonesia Section to submit proposals on five open calls for proposals:

IEEE Indonesia Computer Chapter Chair, Dr. Ford Lumban Gaol and IEEE Indonesia Education Society Chapter Chair, Dr. Iwan Kustiawan, were enthusiastic, asking numerous questions following Dr. Bajaj’s presentation. The meeting was hosted by IEEE R10 Reaching Locals Ambassador from Indonesia, Muhfizaturrahmah (Ovy), and concluded with commitment on submitting proposals to EA R10.
