The celebration of IEEE Day of Vidyalankar Institute of Technology (VIT), Mumbai, India on 11 October 2023, commenced with a cake-cutting ceremony. The event exuded a tangible atmosphere of excitement as attendees wholeheartedly embraced the significance of IEEE Day. This was exemplified as the chairperson, vice-chairperson, and convenors representing IEEE-VIT, IEEE Aerospace and Electronic Systems Society, IEEE-Geoscience and Remote Sensing Society, and IEEE-Women in Enigineering Student Branches came together to jointly cut the cake, symbolizing the principles of unity and collaboration at the core of IEEE.
The presence of key IEEE representatives was complemented by the attendance of heads of the IEEE-VIT Student Branch and workforce members, further enriching the sense of community and active participation in the event. A significant highlight of the day was a thought-provoking address by Dr. Varsha Turkar, Professor of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering, VIT. Her engaging discussion revolved around the importance and value of IEEE membership, underscoring its paramount role within the field of technology and engineering. To bring the event to a fitting close, the upcoming IEEE Week 2023 events were announced as well as the flagship events to be organized by IEEE Student Branch at VIT. The event truly left an indelible and meaningful impression on all those in attendance who had gathered to celebrate IEEE Day.
