On 12 October 2023, the IEEE Student Branch of General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University (KDU), Rathmalana, Sri Lanka celebrated IEEE Day 2023 symbolizing the unity between the IEEE communities at KDU. The occasion featured two guest speakers and an article competition. The event, themed, “Leveraging Technology for a Better Tomorrow,” highlighted the commitment to innovation and exploration of technology, to shape a brighter future.
The article competition covered various topics, each judged by experts in their respective fields, such as: inspirational women in engineering, the future of IoT applications, the smart grid revolution, and the role of artificial intelligence and machine learning in medical image analysis. The inaugural speaker, Mr. Thilina Bandara, a seasoned technology professional, shared invaluable insights about embarking on a career in the industry, while the second speaker, Mr. Dimuthu Anuraj, the Lead Ambassador at IEEE Collabratec, illuminated the numerous benefits of IEEE Collabratec. IEEE Day 2023 at KDU stood as a testament to the unwavering dedication of the IEEE student volunteers to the core principles of IEEE and illuminated their path towards a more innovative and promising future.
