The IEEE R10 Humanitarian Technology Activities (HTA) Committee is committed to fostering technology-driven solutions that create sustainable social impact across Asia-Pacific. Under the leadership of Chair Saurabh Jagadish Soni, the committee focuses on empowering volunteers, strengthening section engagement, and enhancing the visibility of humanitarian initiatives within IEEE.
The 2026 committee structure includes experienced advisors, vice chairs, and subcommittee members representing diverse countries across Region 10. This collaborative structure ensures balanced regional representation and coordinated execution of initiatives aligned with IEEE HTA and HAC objectives.
The committee’s major objectives are to encourage IEEE members, students, Young Professionals, and WIE members to actively participate in humanitarian technology initiatives; increase awareness of HTA programs; and support sections in building sustainable, community-driven projects.
The 2026 plan is built around five strategic pillars:
- Engage and Empower Initiative – Volunteer engagement, monthly sessions, mentorship, and SIGHT promotion.
- HTA Spotlight Initiative – Integration of HTA tracks at flagship conferences (HTC, TENSYMP, TENCON) and the R10 HTA Impact Congress.
- Funding Initiative – Resource and travel support to nurture emerging humanitarian leaders and local projects.
- HTA Awards Program – Recognition of outstanding sections and volunteers.
- Disaster Relief Support Fund – Rapid, technology-enabled response mechanisms in collaboration with sections and NGOs.
Through structured programs, measurable outcomes, and strong regional collaboration, the R10 HTA Committee aims to expand impact, strengthen volunteer capacity, and promote humanitarian innovation across Region 10.
