Technologies such as AI, 5G, smart cities, and clean energy are transforming how we learn and work. IEEE members can keep up with these changes by using two reliable resources. The IEEE Learning Network helps you build new skills. IEEE Technical Communities help you connect, share, and grow.
The IEEE Learning Network, or ILN, is an online platform with more than 1,400 courses. These courses cover topics like AI, IoT, cybersecurity, 5G, and renewable energy. You can also improve workplace skills, including English for Technical Professionals and Project Management. Many courses are free for members. For paid courses, IEEE members receive a 50 percent discount on up to three eligible courses each year. All courses are created by global experts. The content is practical and relevant to the Asia-Pacific region.
Learning is even more effective when you join a community. IEEE Technical Communities, or TCs, bring together people with similar interests. Popular areas include blockchain, digital reality, smart cities, and entrepreneurship. Most TCs offer free membership. Members can join webinars, discussions, and local events.
You can find mentors, share ideas, and turn new knowledge into real projects. The best results come from using both resources together. Learn with ILN. Apply your knowledge and connect with others in a TC. This approach helps you make steady progress throughout the year.
Here are three pathways you can follow:

- For early‑career engineers: Identify a skill your team needs, such as cloud computing, project management, or secure coding. Take the matching ILN course. Join a TC, look for a mentor, and volunteer at an event or webinar. This will help you build both your skills and your professional network.
- For industry professionals and leaders: Select an ILN course series that fits your goals. Examples include 5G for industry, smart city frameworks, or renewable integration. Join a relevant TC to compare regional practices and meet partners for pilot projects. Share your experiences with the community to support others and build your reputation.
