Welcome Messages

Message from IEEE Region 10 Director

Dear IEEE Colleagues,

Happy New Year!

2021 was no different than 2020. There were continued challenges with uncertainties, but we had lessons learnt from the 2020. IEEE and its members continued to be innovative and creative during this unprecedented challenging time. IEEE provides us lots of opportunities through its rich technical resources, events, and conferences but I found that our volunteers created many more opportunities of member engagement in a very innovative and creative way. We could expand our boundaries and most of the Region 10 events had global participation. That was a great learning from this pandemic, and we could organize many meaningful member-centric virtual events with significant value adds. I appreciate the efforts of all members and volunteers who were positive, thoughtful, and innovative in their approach and converted challenges into opportunities.

The performance of Region 10 Executive Committee was exemplary during 2021. It was very difficult to do all activities virtually, but all committee chairs showed great leadership, worked together as a team, followed collaborative approach, and created value for our members through new programs. Their efforts are applaudable, consequently we continue to grow. We are top among all regions on activities, member count, number of sections and sub sections.

Region 10 believes in setting up goals and direction to further mission and vision of IEEE so that we remain committed to fostering technological innovation and excellence for the benefit of humanity. We decided in following the thrust areas for 2021-2022 and shall continue to work in coming year with more rigor and passion, and let our programs create value to address member recruitment and member retention.

  • Membership Activities: Member Retention and Continuation of Students to Young Professionals
  • Technical Activities: Section-Chapter Collaborative Programs, Conference Quality, Industry Engagements.
  • Professional Activities: Entrepreneurship and Career Advancement Programs.

In 2022, while keeping the well-being of our members, we will try to be more innovative and creative to provide value added programs to our members. We have plans to roll out some very ambitious R10-wide technical projects and events to provide an opportunity of learning and showcasing technical knowledge and skills for our members. We shall also continue our focus on lifelong learning efforts, reaching local initiative and engaging local communities through our especially designed programs.

I’ll encourage you to be diversified and think beyond the boundaries of your own Student Branch, Chapter, Section, Region and collaborate, and that will give you real learning and great opportunities. Once again, I thank you all for your contributions in making IEEE better and stronger and look forward to working with to further mission and vision of IEEE.

Wish you and your family a very happy new year with lots of happiness, health, peace, and joy.

Best regards,
Deepak Mathur

IEEE Region 10 Director
