Dear IEEE Region 10 Members,
As we reach the midpoint of 2025, I would like to express my sincere appreciation to all of you for your dedication and leadership across our diverse and dynamic Region. These past few months have been a period of important progress on both governance and global engagement fronts.
Strengthening Governance for the Future
In light of the upcoming IEEE Region Realignment in 2028, IEEE Region 10 has taken proactive steps to reinforce its governance structure. In March 2025, a motion on the interpretation of the 2023 R10 Bylaws was formally approved by the R10 Committee and submitted to MGA for review. This decision—led by SPNIC Chair Prof. Takamura—clarifies our framework for elections, interim appointments, and transition planning.
Global Visibility through the VIC Summit
IEEE Region 10 proudly served as a Gold Sponsor of the IEEE VIC Summit and Honors Ceremony 2025, held in Tokyo in April. This was a landmark opportunity to connect global leaders, young professionals, and innovators from across the world.
Highlights of our contribution include:
- Hosting a well-received Dessert Reception after the Gala
- Supporting travel for 9 participants from 10 Sections and Subsections
- Enabling over 50 young professionals and students from Japan to join
- Representing R10 with a strong presence of 25 ExCom members
Feedback from attendees spoke of inspiration, ethics, and AI for social good—reminding us that IEEE R10 is not just active, but impactful.
A Personal Note
As I continue to meet members from across IEEE R10, I am moved by your passion, resilience, and optimism. Whether in a technical conference, a humanitarian project, or a student-led event, I see the same unshakable spirit of “Technology for Humanity” that unites us all.
In this time of global challenges and transformation, it is your unwavering commitment that gives IEEE its true strength. Let us continue to grow together—hand in hand, across borders—with empathy, integrity, and hope.
Takako Hashimoto
IEEE Region 10 Director, 2025–2026
