On 10 March 2025, 2025 IEEE President & CEO, Kathleen Kramer visited Cambodia where IEEE had an IEEE Subsection in Cambodia. The visit by President Kathleen is in line with Cambodia’s rapidly modernizing, with increased investments in digital infrastructure, renewable energy, and smart city initiatives. IEEE’s expertise in advancing technology for humanity could help Cambodia develop innovative solutions for its industries, education, and public services. IEEE would be able to support the country’s growing technological and engineering landscape. Currently, IEEE has a small but potentially growing IEEE Cambodia Subsection.
Furthermore, Cambodia’s universities and research institutions are expanding their focus on STEM education. An IEEE President’s visit could further foster collaborations in technology, as well as inspire some of the young engineers to engage in cutting-edge research. IEEE Cambodia Subsection could play a pivotal role in shaping the next generation of Cambodian engineers and scientists.
IEEE can contribute valuable insights and technological advancements to support Cambodia’s development goals. A visit would strengthen international partnerships and reinforce the country’s place in the global engineering community.
The visit by our IEEE President & CEO, Kathleen Kramer to Cambodia on 10 March, 2025, started with the meeting with our IEEE Cambodia Subsection, together accompanying the IEEE President is the IEEE Region 10 Director Takako Hashimoto, IEEE Asia Pacific Director, Leo Hwa Chiang and IEEE Southeast Asia Council Chair Bernard Lim.
